All of our products are made in the USA and comply with the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard. They are manufactured by the two leading manufacturers of eclipse glasses. American Paper Optics and Rainbow Symphony. We are proud to be listed on the American Astronomical Society's (AAS) website as a reputable vendor of products that are safe when used properly. For more information on safe eclipse viewing, visit the NASA website.

In order to process orders as fast as possible, your order may be from American Paper Optics (such as the glasses shown above) or from Rainbow Symphony, similar to the ones shown at right.

Both brands are high quality, are made in the USA, and meet the same high safety standards.

If you are looking for eclipse glasses that are made in China, we are very sorry, but we don't sell them.

These glasses are made with lenses of 2 mil scratch resistant polymer (black/silver). They filter out 100% of harmful ultra-violet and infrared rays, and 99.999% of visible light. They create a sharp solar image with natural orange color. They are ISO 12312-2 compliant and CE certified. They have been independently tested and are safe for all phases of the eclipse. Warnings and instructions are pre-printed on the back. Full instructions, as well as links to the ISO and CE certifications, can be found on the manufacturer's website.

The next solar eclipse visible on Earth will be on 2 October, 2024. It will be an annular eclipse, meaning that the sun is not completely covered by the moon, and the moon will appear as a "ring of fire" in a path approximately 250 km wide. That path, shown at right, extends from Easter Island through Chile and Argentina.

Other areas will have a partial eclipse. For example, in Buenos Aires, Argentia, the sun will be 41% covered. In Santiago, Chile, the coverage will be 44%, and in Montevideo, Uruguay, it will be 31%. In Hawaii, coverage will be 46%, but it will be particularly spectacular, since the eclipse will occur at sunrise.

If you want to see annularity, you can do this from Easter Island. On the South American continent, the largest cities in the path are Puerto Deseado, Argentina, and Cochrane, Chile.

Since this is an annular eclipse, it is never safe to look at the sun without eye protection. If you want to view this eclipse, you will need eclipse glasses. The next eclipse will be a total eclipse on 12 August, 2026, in Iceland and Spain.

Thanks to our free shipping by mail, ours is one of the lowest, or the lowest, price you will find for ISO certified eclipse glasses.

Diffraction Gratings: $3.99 With Free Shipping!

Now that the eclipse is over, you'll want to set your eclipse glasses aside in a safe place in preparation for the the annular eclipse in Chile and Argentina in October 2, 2024, and the total eclipse in Europe on August 12, 2026. But while you wait, there's another neat little scientific product you'll want to have. They are manufactured by one of our eclipse glasses suppliers, Rainbow Symphony. That company gets is name from its biggest product in non-eclipse years, namely, diffraction gratings.

A diffraction grating is similar to a prism--it breaks light up into its composite wavelengths, producing a rainbow. So if you want to see a rainbow, but the weather isn't cooperating, you can look through the diffraction grating, or use it to project light onto a surface. The advantage of a diffraction grating is the size. It's the same size as a photographic slide, so you can keep it in your pocket.

It's a fun little toy to play with, and you and your kids can do a lot of interesting scientific experiments, such as the ones on this website. But there's another reason why you want one!

When I was a kid, I discovered in the school library a book entitled UFOs and IFOs: A Factual Report on Flying Saucers, by Gardner Soule. As the title suggests, it was a scholarly (for elementary school kids) look at the UFO phenomenon. And I remember that the author suggested that you carry some things with you at all times, just in case you ever see a UFO. I believe he recommended a pen and paper to jot down notes and make a sketch. And I remember that a small compass would come in handy to see if the UFO had any magnetic effects.

Maybe I carried around a compass, but I could never find the other piece of equipment he recommended: A diffraction grating. If you ever see a UFO, you should look at it through a diffraction grating. By noting which colors are present, you will allow scientists to figure out what materials the UFO is made out of, through the process of atomic spectroscopy. With your data, scientists will be able to figure out if the UFO is made of the element unobtainium, found only on the planet Zontar, or if it's actually just aluminum from an airplane door that popped out.

A few months ago, most people didn't know that they would need eclipse glasses, and they waited until it was too late. Well, there might be a flood of UFO reports. People will remember Gardner Soule's advice, and start looking for diffraction gratings. But they'll be out of stock. Just like you were prepared and ordered your eclipse glasses early, act now to get your diffraction grating, for only $3.99, with free shipping. Just click the "buy now" button below.
